Splashback installation.

The following are a selection of images from kitchen installations using Van der Touw Designs

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to create a new design out of my most beloved nature patterns. These patterns are from the leaves of the Bodhi Tree. The family that requested the splashback has a beautiful home and garden in Kerikeri surrounds. To set the entrance into their kitchen off they requested a design that would complement their love for art and Buddha statues. It is interesting to note here that the Bodhi tree is directed related to the Buddha. The leaves that were used for this design came from a direct descendent from the original tree. Buddha was said to have received a state of enlightenment under that tree. The seed of the tree were Brougth to Kerikeri, New Zealand by a Buddhist monk. I obtained the plant from Red Woods nurseries in Kerikeri many years ago. The plant had grown into a small tree when the images of the fallen leaves were taken. Decaying Bodhi leaves make fantastic patterns and I was able (with the help of the tree) to create a wonderful design for the Kerikeri family. I truly felt this was a gift from the tree.

I’m grateful I found Van der Touw Design to create my splashback.

I knew it would be amazing. It is awesome, everyone that comes here fallls in love with it!
